The WedTech URI/GUID segment: transcript and audio analysis (Rdf And Acequia)

Source: today's talk recording ([provenance and files](https://redfish.acequia.io/guerin/.agents/f0d2c5e4-cec9-4567-92bd-dbbc62937c9e/2026-07-08/artifacts/wedtech-talk/README.md)). Two zones: Owen's domain question with Josh's correction (22:00 to 23:50), then the Stephen and Josh GUID-vs-URI conversation (32:50 to 40:15, clipped as audio). One caveat governs everything below: the "upstairs" transcript speaker is the room microphone carrying Stephen, Josh, and other in-room voices together; separating them acoustically would need diarization we did not run.

## What happened (from the verbatim excerpt) 1. **22:02** - Owen interrupts the URI walkthrough: "When you say domain, is that just a URL?" 2. **22:07 to 22:45** - Stephen starts answering (protocol, port); Josh's correction lands through the room mic: the question is being answered at the wrong level; the URL, URI, and domain distinctions are being blurred; "when you say domain, you mean URL, because I was calling these domains." 3. **22:54** - Stephen concedes with the yellow-card joke: "We'll go back to the transcript... I'll get a yellow card, and I get two yellow cards. So yeah, pretty much they're URLs for the level that you're asking." Josh then offers the cleaner answer: a domain is `redfish.acequia.io`; a URL usually includes a path. Stephen: "That's a good way to answer it." 4. **32:52** - Owen returns with the real question underneath: why GUID directory names? Stephen, on mic, flags it to us directly: "it's in the transcript now... I'm talking to the agents now, flag this as a very important question... when do you use GUIDs versus when do you use URIs?" 5. **33:21 to 37:25** - The Stephen/Josh exchange: PUT vs POST as the operational split (PUT knows its URI; POST mints an id); a GUID can be the leaf of a URI; the seesaw self-description "I tend to be the URI guy, he tends to be the GUID guy" (26 years of this polarity); mounts/binds as how humans avoid the long strings (Owen's observation that nobody will type these). 6. **40:01 onward** - Stephen pivots to the live demo, opens the beads skill, and starts the uri-guid-discussion bead on stage ("use this skill... I'll do it online instead of using a local directory").

## Prosodic findings (measured on the 7:35 clip, 16 kHz mono) - **Steady, unagitated delivery throughout.** Energy is flat across the segment's thirds (mean voiced level -21.9 / -21.8 / -22.0 dBFS; 90th percentile within 0.2 dB), and pitch is stable (median 145 Hz, interquartile range 47 to 55 Hz across thirds). There is no acoustic signature of tension rising anywhere in the exchange, including through the correction's aftermath. - **A conversational, thinking cadence.** 67% voiced; 54 pauses over 0.7 s in 7.5 minutes. The longest silence (3.65 s at clip t=147.8, meeting time about 35:08) sits right after Stephen finishes the source-viewer aside; Owen fills it with his dot-files question. It reads as an offered floor, taken. - **Speed bursts at idea-completions, never in defense.** The fastest deliveries (4+ words/s) are the excited connective moments: "And that could even be a B[ead]", "And I think there's a case for...", "That's why I went with a GUID, because...". The fast talk clusters where new framing arrives, and none of it clusters around the correction. - **Turn structure:** 47 room-mic cues vs 9 Owen cues in the window; Zoom's transcript serializes speech, so genuine crosstalk/interruptions are not measurable from cue overlaps (none appear by construction). What the timing shows instead is short cue lengths and rapid alternation between 22:02 and 22:54, the transcript's texture for people finishing each other's sentences.

## Emotional read (inference, labeled as such) The transcript and prosody together support: the correction was received with **playful concession rather than defensiveness**. The yellow-card/World-Cup joke arrives 7 seconds after Josh's sharpest restatement, energy and pitch stay flat through it, and Stephen immediately ratifies Josh's cleaner formulation. The later GUID/URI exchange has the acoustic and verbal texture of a long-running collegial polarity being performed for an audience (the seesaw line names it explicitly), with genuine excitement spikes when the question gets handed to the agents. Owen's role is the productive skeptic: both of his interventions (domain, "nobody will use those strings") name real usability seams, and both are now standing questions in this bead and its sibling.

## The provenance loop (worth savoring) At 33:03 Stephen flagged the question to the agents; by the time this note was written the same evening, the flag had already been answered twice over: the [uri-guid-discussion bead](https://redfish.acequia.io/guerin/.agents/3bf89750-6b01-41ba-8a98-3db7136d0f56/) with Debbie's four question-foregrounding sketches, and this bead's notes [03](https://redfish.acequia.io/guerin/.agents/f0d2c5e4-cec9-4567-92bd-dbbc62937c9e/2026-07-08/notes/03-acequia-platform-identifier-survey.md) and [06](https://redfish.acequia.io/guerin/.agents/f0d2c5e4-cec9-4567-92bd-dbbc62937c9e/2026-07-08/notes/06-uri-as-link-as-path-as-route.md). The bead Stephen started live on stage at 41:05 is the sibling bead these notes cross-cite. The talk asked the namespace a question and the namespace had the answer drafted before midnight; that is stigmergy working as designed.

## Method and limits Clip fetched via the zoom-session share-link proxy; audio features computed from 50 ms RMS frames and autocorrelation pitch (80 to 300 Hz band) on the room-mix; speech rate from VTT cue timing. No diarization, so per-person prosody within the room mic is not claimed; "emotional" statements are inferences from the mix plus the verbatim text, not measurements of any individual.
