## Motivation (why a GUID) Acequia apps constantly choose between two ways to identify a thing: a **URI** (a dereferenceable address with a home) and a **GUID/UUID** (an opaque, mintable token). The bead system already takes a position ("ids are URIs; the GUID is the leaf"), but the team has never gathered the external definitions and best practices in one place, or surfaced the design questions an app builder should ask before picking one. This bead holds that single thread: definitions from the standards, best practices from the field, the big questions as UX sketches, and an onboarding artifact for new Redfish team members.
