**Status: potential-TODO.** Stephen's words were "imagine" and "consider"; per the house rule these are captured, never executed. Nothing below is built or committed.

## The imagine (verbatim anchor) > imagine now that we can say as I communicate with the players on the board, i play my bead of them (theory of mind) which i try to resonate with. Unpacked: when I address another player, I am really addressing **my model of them**, a bead I keep that stands for them. Playing "my bead of you" and listening for whether the real you rings back is theory of mind as resonance-matching: the closer my bead-of-you is to your actual resonances, the stronger the sympathetic ring. Communication becomes tuning. The bead system already has the substrate for this: a bead-of-you is just a bead citing your bead, and the twin could render both and show their beat frequency. Who may keep beads-of-whom, and whether the modeled player can read their portrait, are governance questions before they are render questions.

## The consider (verbatim anchor) > consider beads in semantic space having "semantic gaussian splats") where the spherical harmonics are loosely the FFT of the semantic network meets spectral graph theory Unpacked, as a chain of standing ideas: - **Gaussian splats** render a scene as a cloud of oriented gaussians; the scene emerges from overlapping soft blobs. A **semantic** splat would place a bead in semantic space as a soft distribution rather than a point: a bead is about several things, with spread and orientation. - **Spherical harmonics** are how each splat encodes view-dependent appearance: the same splat looks different from different directions. Semantically: a bead reads differently from different vantages, and the harmonics are the compact encoding of that view-dependence. This is the renders-to-the-requester idea in mathematical clothing: requester = viewing direction in semantic space. - **Spectral graph theory** studies a graph through the eigenvectors of its Laplacian, the graph's own vibration modes. The bead network's spectrum IS its resonance structure: low modes are the big communities, high modes the fine texture. "The FFT of the semantic network" reads as: express each bead's semantic content in the eigenbasis of the network graph, so a bead's "harmonics" are literally its projection onto the network's vibration modes. - Assembled: **a bead is a splat in semantic space whose view-dependent appearance is encoded in the network's own spectral basis.** Rendering the board for a requester = evaluating every splat's harmonics in the direction of that requester's position in semantic space. Resonance between two beads = overlap of their spectral coefficients. The theory-of-mind play above becomes: my bead-of-you is my low-order spherical-harmonic approximation of your splat.

## Why this is worth keeping warm (and what it would take) It unifies tonight's threads: refraction (view-dependence), resonance (spectral modes), renders-to-the-requester (evaluation direction), and the Hubler wires (the graph whose Laplacian supplies the basis). A first probe, if ever ratified: embed the ~100-bead commons with any text embedding, build the citation-graph Laplacian, project embeddings onto the low eigenvectors, and see whether the low-mode communities match the felt neighborhoods (fire, cameras, governance, identity). That is an afternoon of DuckDB and numpy, and it stays unrun until Stephen says so.
