Ran `pull-adsblol-history.py` over `adsblol/globe_history_2026` **v2026.05.19** (3.37 GB, 2 parts), bbox `34.05,-119.10,34.40,-118.45`, window 2026-05-19 **12:00–16:00Z**. Streamed the tar (skipping the heatmap + the global traffic); scanned **66,632 aircraft**, **261 entered the Sandy bbox in-window**. Outputs: `artifacts/adsb-sandy/summary.json` + per-aircraft `adsb-<icao>.json` track sidecars. Source is **unfiltered** (military + fire present) and free/ODbL.
## The camera ship (FR24 mystery solved) FR24 playback showed an **AS350/H125 at 3,400 ft** orbiting Bell Canyon at **13:17:57Z**, registration **N/A** (blocked). adsb.lol de-blurs it: - **N828AP — AS350, Helinet Aviation Services LLC** (icao `ab4ea1`). At 13:17:57Z: alt **3,400 ft** (exact match), dt +1 s, at the Calabasas end of its loop — matching the FR24 marker. **1,687 trace points** loitering 700–7,100 ft. - **Helinet is THE LA news/aerial-cinematography heli operator** → N828AP is the ship behind the ABC7 "Sandy Fire" footage. Its orbit track = the **camera-position prior** for posing the telemetry-less footage (note 07 §6 Sim(3) anchor). Track: `adsb-ab4ea1.json`. - (Other news helis in-frame, also N/A on FR24: **N50Q** Bell407 Helicopters Inc; **N358TV/N925TV** AS350 Tiny Bubbles Aviation.)
## Firefighting traffic (squawk 1255 — CAL FIRE / USFS) - **N429DF** — OV-10 Bronco (V10), air-attack/lead plane, **1,047 pts** orbiting 3,700–6,600 ft (`adsb-a51d5f.json`). - **N437DF** — S-2 Tracker air **tanker** (callsign **T73**), 4,500–5,500 ft (`adsb-a53d70.json`). - **N261CG** — Sikorsky S-61 helitanker, low 300–1,800 ft, **391 pts** (`adsb-a282ed.json`).
## Military (dbFlags bit0) - **95-00095** — C-12 Huron (callsign **LOST42**), 7,725–10,375 ft (`adsb-adfe94.json`). - **6058** — UH-60 Black Hawk, very low 350 ft (likely CalGuard fire support; only 2 pts, coverage edge) (`adsb-ae6cec.json`).
## Validates the pipeline The active-cataloger ADS-B loop works end to end: free unfiltered source → stream-filter to bbox/window → identify fire/military/news aircraft, **de-blur FR24-hidden registrations**, and emit per-aircraft posed tracks that become the **camera-position prior**. Confirm the prior by matching the ABC7 footage parallax to N828AP's orbit.
## Housekeeping - Filtered subset (`artifacts/adsb-sandy/`, small) is the keeper / self-hostable. The **3.37 GB raw day** (`Downloads/adsblol-2026-05-19/part.a{a,b}`) is scratch — re-downloadable from the release; safe to delete. - adsb.lol coverage caught the low fire/mil/news traffic well here (SoCal feeder density is good) — FR24 paid not needed for Sandy.
