## Motivation (why a GUID) Ryan Damm's light-fields talk supplies the anti-reification koan: capture the full light field and "you don't actually need the goat." No 3-space model is ever built; there are only point samples of the light field. Stephen's transposition: a pixel is an Alvy Ray Smith point sample at phi/theta (mapped from uv by the camera matrix), depth comes from epipolar-constrained phi/theta correspondences between light-field samplers, and nothing else needs to exist. This bead holds the reference, the frame, and the challenge it fires at our own rendering: the digital twin's solid glass beads are ink, ink is matter, matter is slowed-down light with harmonics, so how little body does a bead actually need?
